Week 5




This week the focus has been about the role of technology in learning.  Emerging approaches to 

delivery and assessment with integrated technologies are rapidly changing teaching and learning

 in the higher education sectors.  Challenges for educators are to provide quality teaching and 

learning that is relevant and prepares the current and future workforce, with skills for now and the 

future.  Globally, developments in technology and communication provide significant changes and

 opportunities for. new ways of teaching and learning.  The 21st Century world with increased

 communication and  technologies, provides great opportunities to change traditional learning in 

Higher Education to be relevant to the way that students  connect socially , learn, live and will work 

now and in the  future.


Leadership and infrastructure are vital for the integration of technology into learning through learning facilitates that supports independent and collaborative activities for learners in connected learning environments and experiences. Connectedness is vital for 21st century learner centric learning as learners access much of their learning external to a university or college independently or  collaboratively  learning increasingly involves online and mobile technologies and requires  development of new pedagogies.
Commitment to  professional development for the educators is essential to develop capabilities of educators in new technologies and pedagogy. 
Prensky believes learning must be learner led  motivating through interest based learning. connecting learners with learning through a framework of communication and problem solving skills with learners as active participants in problem and inquiry based learning (2011,p. 7- 17).NMC Horizon Report: 2014 Higher Education lists new technologies and provides an interesting  model for Innovative pedagogical practices.
